Black Country Consortium Careers
Midland Metro Alliance Visit
Dear Parent/Carer,
As you are aware your child has been taking part in the Black Country Consortium Careers Project – Pathway to Employment. As part of this project students have been invited to a workplace encounter at Midland Metro Alliance in Birmingham on Tuesday 21st March 2023.
Pupils will have a brief overview of careers in rail and construction, then learners will engage in activities they could encounter at interview or assessment days. Examples of activities pupils may complete are: Build a tower with paper cups and sticks (teamwork, design), Desert Island (reasoning), Hunt the Hazard (H&S), Myth Busters in Construction (team discussion, reasoning), Challenges & Resolutions (discussion on building a tram through a city centre) and Giant Jigsaw (team work).
Students will leave with staff from the school at 9.45am and will travel by minibus. They will return at 12:30pm when they will have their lunch. Students will be accompanied with first aid and visit lead trained members of staff. Please ensure that your child is wearing comfortable clothes and has a snack and a drink for the visit.
Consent obtained at the start of the academic year covers this visit but if you have any reservations about your child attending this visit please contact me at the school after half term
Yours faithfully
