Dear Parents/Carers

COVID Cases in Clent Class

We have been made aware that there have been positive cases of COVID confirmed within Clent Class. Your child has been identified as a direct contact.  In light of the spread of the Omicron variant, I have taken the decision to close Clent class on Monday 13 December 2021.  We will be informed by NHS Track and Trace if the positive cases are related to the Omicron variant by then, and if this is the case then all direct contacts will be required to isolate for a period of 10 days, regardless of their vaccination status.

If the positive cases are not related to the Omicron variant, Clent Class will open again on Tuesday 14 December 2021 to all pupils with a negative PCR test.

We would ask that parents arrange a PCR test for their child over the weekend.   You can arrange a PCR test via this link  https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronaviruscovid19/testing/gettestedforcoronavirus/.  When the online form asks for the reason for taking a test, please choose the option “I’ve been told to get a test by my local council, health protection team or healthcare professional”.

Please let the School know the result of the PCR test, and if NHS Track and Trace contact you regarding the Omicron variant.

If your child develops any of the following symptoms at any point during their isolation, please arrange another PCR test:

  • new continuous cough and/or
  • high temperature and/or
  • a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

If your child’s PCR test comes back positive, please ring the School on 0121 561 6884.   We would be grateful if you could send a copy of all test results to headteacher@westminster.sandwell.sch.uk.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the School.

Yours faithfully
