Dear Parents and Carers

Increase in COVID cases

We are currently seeing a 10% rise in COVID cases amongst our staff workforce alongside rises in confirmed cases amongst pupils and suspected cases where pupils are displaying symptoms.

In order to minimise the risks to our school community, if your child is displaying any of the following symptoms, please keep them away from school and arrange for an LFT test:

  • a high temperature or shivering (chills) – a high temperature means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
  • shortness of breath
  • feeling tired or exhausted
  • an aching body
  • a headache
  • a sore throat
  • a blocked or runny nose
  • loss of appetite
  • diarrhoea
  • feeling sick or being sick

LFT tests can be purchased from pharmacies, but we have a stock of tests that we can supply to parents and carers for pupils. These can be collected from school reception.

If your child tests positive for COVID, please let school know as soon as possible. They will need to remain away from school for 5 days. This is in order to enable us to minimise the risks to both pupils and staff.

We are continuing to work closely with Sandwell LA and Public Health on this issue.

Yours faithfully

O Flowers
