Dear Parents/Carers

Confirmed Positive Cases in Maple and Chestnut

We have been made aware that there have been positive cases of COVID confirmed within Maple and Chestnut Classes.  Your child has been identified as a close contact through our contract tracing measures.

We have been liaising closely Public Health Sandwell and they have confirmed at this stage, there is no requirement for pupils who have been in contact with those testing positive to self-isolate in line with the updated Government guidelines.

However, Public Health has asked that pupils who are close contacts are taken for a PCR test.

You can arrange a PCR test via this link  https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/get-tested-for-coronavirus/.  When the online form asks for the reason for taking a test, please choose the option “I’ve been told to get a test by my local council, health protection team or healthcare professional”.

Whilst pupils do not need to self-isolate whilst awaiting the results of the PCR test, we strongly recommend that they take a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) every day whilst they are awaiting their results.

If you think that your child will be unable to tolerate these tests, Public Health have advised that parents should have a PCR test to pick up any cases of proxy transmission.

Pupils can continue to come to school whilst unless they develop symptoms of COVID (ie high temperature, loss of smell/taste, continuous cough).  If your child’s PCR or LFT test comes back positive, please ring the School on 0121 561 6884.

If queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the School.

Yours faithfully
