Secondary curriculum

The Secondary Curriculum

 The secondary curriculum consists of subjects from the national curriculum and subjects students opt to study as part of their academic ability or interests.

The core subjects students study are:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • ICT/Computing
  • PCC (Citizenship) (Students will access careers and sex education through the PCC curriculum)
  • British Values (inc Religious Education)
  • Physical Education

In line with the school vision we have also identified two subjects as The Westminster School ‘Core Subjects’. These subjects are:

  • Business and Enterprise
  • Skills for Life

Other subjects that are offered at Key Stage 4 are:

  • Geography
  • History
  • BTEC Sport and Active Leisure
  • Art
  • Textiles
  • Performing Arts (Both Music and Drama)
  • Design Technology (Food and Resistant Materials)

Curriculum Enrichment – Students also have the opportunity in the following curriculum enrichment opportunities:

  • British Values Enrichment – Covered through ASDAN Beliefs and Values
  • Dudley College (Gifted and Talented Catering and Mechanics)
  • Independent travel training (for identified students)
