Who does your service provide for?

The Westminster School provides pupils with a range of educational difficulties, from age 7 -19 years of age, access to a mainstream curriculum within a special needs setting. An innovative approach is taken to learning in small class groups with the integrated support of information technology and therapies. Our aim is to provide each student with the opportunity to enjoy pushing the boundaries of their knowledge and experience, so gaining the skills and confidence they need in their future life. We develop individualized programs; taking account of skills, interests and pupil’s own Special Educational Needs with a planned pathway for the future.

The Westminster School follows the National Curriculum and offers our own broader curriculum, enabling our students to study a wide range of subjects up to, and including, GCSE. This includes:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • PE
  • Computing
  • Food Technology
  • Citizenship
  • Art
  • Music
  • RE
  • PSHE
  • Business Studies
  • Independence Training
  • Drama
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award and ASDAN
  • Supported Internships

This curriculum is enriched by a variety of activities, including Closer to the Edge, West Bromwich Albion Foundation, extra-curricular clubs (including an assortment of lunchtime clubs), swimming and sporting events and a variety of Arts performances in the local community.

Our most recent innovation has been the Westminster Forest School and Life Skills Flat where pupils develop their independent skills outside the classroom.
